Storm the Center
	︎Under Armour

Taking Canadian youth hockey to the next level.
Storm The Center was an Under Armour competition that invited Bantam age hockey players to connect with Under Armour through hockey. The competition allows 2 teams to spend the day at the Canadiens’ Bell Centre where they trained and practiced just like the pros. In the end, they got to compete on the famous Canadiens’ ice for the Under Armour Cup.&nbsp;
	︎RoleAs the lead&nbsp; designer, I collaborated and executed every phase of the project Including: reseach, leading the digital and gamification strategy, wireframes, branding, UI look &amp; feel and prototyping.— Work done at RTO+P

<img width="3000" height="1946" width_o="3000" height_o="1946" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/dd6fcb9aa2803ff1c4abe2334d36a24bdf85317c02ac8999588b983366fa835f/2-PhoneMockups.jpg" data-mid="133773253" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/dd6fcb9aa2803ff1c4abe2334d36a24bdf85317c02ac8999588b983366fa835f/2-PhoneMockups.jpg" />

	︎Challenge
	Create a virtual competition for Bantam aged hockey teams to battle for their chance to play at the Armour Cup. Curate a digital experience that incentivized the users to generate content consistently throughout the competition. How do you get a group of teenage boys, their coach and their parents to want to post more video and image content while keeping up with their busy schedules?

	UXD

	︎Research Highlights+ Primary Audience: Bantam Aged Players &amp; Parents + Secondary Audience: Coach+ Young athletes are DMing coaches and using social platforms to connect directly+ A digital reward system is popular amongst this age group shown by the statistics of teenagers who play video games+ Findings from 2018 Program: &nbsp; &nbsp; + Monday Uploads = 1,000+ &nbsp; &nbsp; + Saturday &amp; Sunday Uploads = 700+
	︎Goals
+ Get users who don’t upload to upload.+ Incentivize users that upload to upload more.+ Increase the number of teams that register+ Generate weekly uploads vs. all at once at the end of 6 week virtual competition

<img width="2688" height="1613" width_o="2688" height_o="1613" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/5739c231e2c8698407923921045cce4745318c05cd98712fb9991c4570427ad2/STC-wireframes.jpg" data-mid="133889525" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/5739c231e2c8698407923921045cce4745318c05cd98712fb9991c4570427ad2/STC-wireframes.jpg" />

	︎Digital Reward Strategy We leaned heavily on the Hook Model — a four step process to hook users and form habits. ︎︎︎Trigger. ︎︎︎Action. ︎︎︎Investment. ︎︎︎Variable Reward. ︎︎︎Repeat. Throughout the competition, we rewarded them with physical rewards as well as digital rewards. Each week there was a new prize to unlock, which gave us the window to communicate with teams and create investment through out the entirety of the competition.

	Branding &amp; UI

︎Inital Brand Concepting

    The Storm the Centre competition was going on year 4. Each year, we revamped and enhanced the branding and imagery of the competition. I proposed several concepts to our internal team in which we selected 3 and presented those to the client. Each direction had it’s own focus, but all aimed to appeal to the younger, teenage audience. The color palette utilized the Canadiens red and blue brand colors.

	︎Micro Moments
	The micro moments within the competition experience were opportunities to amplify the rewards teams received. Animating the teams’ badges that held their team logo as they reached the next level felt impactful, substantial, and exciting. In order to create the desire to complete the full badge, the next level was foreshadowed and grayed out. The more the team’s put in, the more their badge grew.

	<img width="1200" height="1200" width_o="1200" height_o="1200" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/8100f06b9d494ab699825f0c4aa57e2f0723aa5b2cd29adfd1cd42a1c05fc4ca/STC-reward.gif" data-mid="133891317" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/8100f06b9d494ab699825f0c4aa57e2f0723aa5b2cd29adfd1cd42a1c05fc4ca/STC-reward.gif" />

	︎Sticker RewardsIn order to create the rewards feedback loop, one of the variable rewards were stickers. Similar to the concept of adding stickers to Instagram stories, the teams could unlock stickers to place on their video and image uploads to jazz up their content. These were hockey centric illustrations that personally took a bit of research to represent hockey lingo.

	Onust Progressive App
	︎Onust

&nbsp;
	Changing the way automotive warranty works.
Onust is an up and coming startup advancing the automotive warranty and servicing arena. Onust empowers consumers with information, resources and tools that will protect them and provide a piece of mind on the road. I was tasked with creating the progressive web app experience after the user logs in. I collaborated closely with the Onust team who were true experts that knew everything about vehicles.

	︎RoleI collaborated and executed many phases of the project including: research, strategy, wireframes, UI look &amp; feel, developed and maintained a design system, prototyping and testing.&nbsp;&nbsp;

	<img width="2045" height="1554" width_o="2045" height_o="1554" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/b9c5693a2dac46cac11891f07c618ec14a6fe99e4ff30c52460119aebff18726/Mobile-3-screens.jpg" data-mid="134590317" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/b9c5693a2dac46cac11891f07c618ec14a6fe99e4ff30c52460119aebff18726/Mobile-3-screens.jpg" />

	︎ChallengeCreate an MVP progressive web app that allows consumers to access all the information and benefits Onust has to offer, while simultaneously introducing Onust to the U.S. Startups are always challenging in their own way, so defining what Onust should and could initally offer was all par for the course.

	UX

	︎Research Exercises
+ Market Research &amp; Competitor AuditI began digging into the reviews of the competitors and was able to pull substantial insights on what the market is missing and wants as well as features within the product experience. Comparing competitor’s products and reviews helped narrow down existing pain points and include features that were missing from other products/subscriptions.
+ Personas
Creating personas allowed me to model, summarize, and communicate my initial research data, and it ultimately allowed me to have a consumable way to reflect on it with stakeholders. Aligning on whom the target audience will be is crucial to the success of the product.

	︎Goals

+ Generate leads+ Subscription Growth+ Get consumers to make referrals
+ Launch an MVP version to iterate upon

<img width="1936" height="1259" width_o="1936" height_o="1259" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/e3d7b07ee9ffb0ce448906ad590239a24268a60b2f189cdd7f3e25ec771c8844/personas.jpg" data-mid="134699413" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/e3d7b07ee9ffb0ce448906ad590239a24268a60b2f189cdd7f3e25ec771c8844/personas.jpg" />
<img width="1936" height="1259" width_o="1936" height_o="1259" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/62de4ae7436e76002524deed4048115620a54743aaf21ac9253dc9a4c9fb251d/competitors.jpg" data-mid="134699398" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/62de4ae7436e76002524deed4048115620a54743aaf21ac9253dc9a4c9fb251d/competitors.jpg" />

	︎Prototype Phase

In order to get a product to market on a tight timeline and budget, we had to focus on building the core. I created and reiterated upon a clickable prototype that answered as many questions as it exposed. The engineer team helped test and field any questions to determine what was feasible and what integrations we needed to consider for phase 2. The client knew everything there was to know about vehicles (and I mean everything), so determining what should be included was a true collaborative effort.The strategic thinking throughout the process included considerations on onboarding, subscription growth, building brand affinity, nuturing model, payment options and many more.

	<img width="1453" height="1554" width_o="1453" height_o="1554" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/cc7268c5173c98028a4506e5e3811b01889a316be7ca639437c4ff5a73ab7c49/prototype-wireframes.jpg" data-mid="134749952" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/cc7268c5173c98028a4506e5e3811b01889a316be7ca639437c4ff5a73ab7c49/prototype-wireframes.jpg" />

<img width="1936" height="1259" width_o="1936" height_o="1259" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/07c05737673287de9f0dde81e5116da71798def7e41100430feb37008fe30c25/wireframes.jpg" data-mid="134748786" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/07c05737673287de9f0dde81e5116da71798def7e41100430feb37008fe30c25/wireframes.jpg" />

︎User Testing OpportunitiesI did a low budget user test to gain the users’ impressions and perspective on the subscription options layout. There were 3 things we needed to communicate about our subscriptions:
1. annual payment vs yearly payment
2. individual plan vs family plan (of up to 4)
3. Annual payment option comes with 3 free months. We needed the layout and functionality to be digestable and intuitive for the user.
NOTE: This testing was not used due to a change in the business strategy and subscription offerings, but provided good insight.User Test Prototype

	UI Design

	︎Inital ConceptingI did a few explorations of initial elements and components. I began exploring key elements of the design system ranging from:
︎︎︎color palette︎︎︎
iconography styles︎︎︎
type hierarchy︎︎︎
image treatment︎︎︎
button stylesThe design process started off as a style tile that morphed into layouts and pages for better visualization to get the full picture. The final product aligned closely with the brand identity that was happening&nbsp;simultaneously.
	<img width="1453" height="1554" width_o="1453" height_o="1554" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/30b6f44f56b33182d7ce382cc74f860e57fb1a632fb8890b9d7fef37d30f8c34/Onust-concepting.jpg" data-mid="134589053" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/30b6f44f56b33182d7ce382cc74f860e57fb1a632fb8890b9d7fef37d30f8c34/Onust-concepting.jpg" />
<img width="4090" height="2312" width_o="4090" height_o="2312" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/ff6a519ea6a87a20e6d5e9eddf2068eda42d14b330035ad136c944ed73a88224/DESIGN.jpg" data-mid="141106095" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/ff6a519ea6a87a20e6d5e9eddf2068eda42d14b330035ad136c944ed73a88224/DESIGN.jpg" />

	︎Design SystemTo maintain consistency and ensure efficient design to development handoff, I developed a modular design system based on reusable components and their states. Every component can be rearranged and combined with others while maintaining design consistency and recognizable UI patterns for the user. Our front end developer created a pattern library that allowed for flexibility and easier updates as the product continues to grow and develop.

	Dashboard Payment &amp;&nbsp; Credit Flow
	︎Character Lab

Character Lab advances scientific insights that help kids thrive. By connecting researchers with educators, Character Lab seeks to create greater knowledge about the conditions that lead to social, emotional, academic, and physical well-being for young people throughout the country. An MVP dashboard portal for researchers to request studies was created and it was time for the next phase of feature improvement.

<img width="2480" height="1441" width_o="2480" height_o="1441" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/71a42352cc763d9a160edf4931ccda9784d733d7f956061aa8aa1e8e794ce5f3/overview.jpg" data-mid="141699885" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/71a42352cc763d9a160edf4931ccda9784d733d7f956061aa8aa1e8e794ce5f3/overview.jpg" />

	︎Understanding the Problem
	An MVP dashboard experience for core payment functionaltity and flow was created, but it was time to iterate and improve. The payment flow for credits heavily relied on the Character Lab’s internal team to manually input information in order to process a payment. Charges were triggered based on the team manually editing field inputs. Nothing was automated, which left room from user error and lots of time wasted.

	︎OpportunitiesTake the charging aspect out of the editor admin modal and put it on the user (researcher). By doing so, we could put a payment page on the user’s dashboard that allows them to accept &amp; submit their own payment. This would reduce headaches of customer support on the Character Lab team and save time. This would also create a stronger feedback loop and instant communication with the user which would speed up the transaction process.
	︎Goals
+ Remove friction and add automation of the payment &amp; credits flow+ Create a feedback loop that nutured the users through the process&nbsp;+ Decrease length of transaction to encourage more studies

	︎Brainstorming WorkshopI held a brainstorming workshop with the entire team to ideate additional user touchpoints and features to include in this next phase of payment and credits flow. There was a lot of great ideas that came out of the workshop, which heavily informed the strategy of the end result. The engineers also surfaced any development implications that influenced the feasibility of parts of the experience.

︎User Flow

    Defining the user flow not only helped flush out the payment process, but also helped identify points of communication we have with the user and areas to focus on. Although the transaction process was a key priority, I defined other areas of the dashboard that were pain points for the user due to lack of information.

︎Prototyping and Usability I created a prototype to emmulate the experience and full flow of the process. This testing allowed me to refine and reiterate the flow and designs based on input and feedback. This also helped drive communication with the engineering team for functionality and what information needed to pull from the database.&nbsp;

	︎Design System &amp; Comoponent IterationA flexible design system had been established during the MVP phase. The new designs used this as a base to iterate upon. I introduced an automated credit balance UI element in the top navigation to create a channel of instant feedback with the user.

	Strategy

︎Wireframing &amp; Content Audit

    Knowledge at Wharton is a content heavy site. There were 4 main types of content - articles, video, podcasts and books. During the strategy phase, it was key determine the content pieces for each of the content types. This would optimize the content pages and lead to digestible information. This was the start of thinking through the component library with the goal of effortlessly incorporating different types of content together in a way that feels easy to understand and expected.&nbsp;

<img width="7150" height="3483" width_o="7150" height_o="3483" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/b082823ff47fad0c0ab385e1eba1c5edadc5c64c10327637d079f0bf9a1a9785/wireframes.jpg" data-mid="141850513" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/b082823ff47fad0c0ab385e1eba1c5edadc5c64c10327637d079f0bf9a1a9785/wireframes.jpg" />

	Design

︎Design &amp; Component System
I created a design system that allowed space for fluid, creative evolution. I made sure to create components that were easily accessible and could even be applied accross other mediums. The content pieces needed to be fluid enough to be placed throughout different pages and layouts of the site. The system was based off the atomic design methodology — base styles,&nbsp;UI elements, components, templates and pages.
